Graduate Studies in Hydrogeology

Coursework. The graduate program in hydrogeology consists of coursework in hydrology, geology, mathematics, and supporting classes in engineering, aqueous geochemistry, and soil science.  The coursework is predominantly quantitative and students are recommended to have a strong undergraduate background in geology, hydrology, and mathematics.  To some extent, deficiencies in these areas can be made up in the first year of graduate studies.  A listing of coursework used by most hydrogeology students is available.  The program is strongly collaborative with other departments at OSU.

Thesis: All students must complete a thesis in the Geology program.  The thesis is on a research topic in hydrogeology, and is planned and directed by the advisor (Haggerty or Wildenschild) in collaboration with a committee.

More information: Information about application to graduate school in the Dept. of Geosciences can be found on the department's web pages.
